Benjamin Goldberg Playroom

The Benjamin Goldberg Playroom sees over 3,500 hematology/oncology patients a year and covers costs related to integrated medicine programming where children can experience the restorative nature of music and art therapy, dance, yoga, and guided meditation.

Child life specialists and creative arts therapists can help children find peace where they are free to explore and create in a space that is all their own.

We know how vital a caregiver is on the medical journey, supporting the patient and the family. Therefore, we proudly support programs to empower the medical staff. Research shows that engagement with the arts in the healthcare workplace positively impacts the general health and mental well-being of all staff by reducing stress and fatigue, awakening creativity, and increasing a sense of community at work.

The Benjamin Goldberg Golf Event proceeds will be dedicated to the new CHKD Mental Health Pavillion, specifically Child Life Programming.

The 13th-floor multi-purpose room is a treatment space designed with the unique social-emotional needs of children in mind. This space encourages the type of peer relating that can help propel a child through a difficult period of mental illness.

In 2019, we completed our first project raising $20,000 for a home treatment option for children receiving immunotherapy infusions in their fight against leukemia. Children receiving this treatment must spend 28 days in the hospital to receive continuous infusions. However, CADD infusion backpacks allow a child to receive drug therapy in the comfort of their own home.

Giving families normalcy when navigating the devastating world of childhood cancer, the backpacks provide over 224 days of treatment to the oncology patients at CHKD each year.
